Add custom XKB symbols

Wed Apr 14, 2021 11:56 am
I am using the kde keyboard layouts and configuration options.
However, I am also using an extra xkb symbol that I added to
Code: Select all
/usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/capslock

Code: Select all
hidden partial modifier_keys
xkb_symbols "caps_alt_ctrl_modifier" {
    key <CAPS> { [ Alt_R ] };
    key <LALT> { [ Control_L, Control_L ] };
    modifier_map Control { <LALT> };
};

It works well. However from time to time,
Code: Select all
/usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/capslock
is overwritten by an update and I have to reconfigure the custom symbol manually.

Is there a way to add a new keyboard option so it is not overwritten by updates?

Hi!

You can use xmodmap to use a user configuration.
