Hi.
I tried to find an answer, but only things I do see are those related to the themes, or position of the "Notifications" dialog box. But what I want is something more obvious (in my opinion): when I get e.g. an email I do see a notification popup, when I'm **working** with my computer. When I'm not, I obviously can't see it, it disappears, and after that I can't see any indication that I did actually received a new email. This is also true, when I run the `notify-send 'Title...' 'A message'`in my terminal - I can see a popup, which is cool, but after it disappears, there is no more indication I got any message. Considering that I have troubles finding similar issue on the internet, I believe it's a rare situation, but how can I know? I did find some questions alike, but with no answer. Here: It looks like there is nothing, when in reality I did get a few notifications. |

You can configure this in System Settings -> Personalization -> Notifications so you will see an Alert Bell in the System Tray that will notify you on existing unread notifications.
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Hej. Thanks for your answer.
However the notification settings was the first place I visited I use Kubuntu 18.x (Bionic), however I also did perform tests on a newer 20.x (a fresh install) - it just.. doesn't work. I have no information (like a different icon on the taskbar) about unread notifications. Here are some related screenshots: Settings -> personalization -> notifications: Settings -> personalization -> notifications -> "Other notifications": And here is what I have upon right clicking on the taskbar -> Notifications -> settings: I just can't see it |

What exact Plasma version and distribution are you using? This doesn't look at all like mine

Hi, thanks for your interest.
My system info: KDE Plasma version: 5.12.9 KDE Framework version: 5.44.0 Qt version: 5.9.5 But, as I said, I also tried on Kubuntu 20.x - it's the newest LTS right? And it looks almost the same, I can't see a setting like 'Indicate / mark notification taskbar icon'. |

Hm, Kubuntu 20.04 is indeed LTS, but there are two newer stable versions since, so you have indeed older versions. This certainly works fine here at least since Plasma 5.19.x

OK, thanks Myriam, I've just tested Kubuntu 21 on Virtual Box and it works fine there. Just like I wanted it to work on my 18.04.
Just when I'll have some spare time I'll upgrade It would be cool if there was a solution for 18.04 though Setting the topic as 'solved' as now maybe it's a question for another topic. Thanks again! |
