Display keyboard layout command

Tue Apr 12, 2022 8:26 am
I want to make a command to show the keyboard layout preview.

I'm currently learning German and I've set up the hotkeys for switching keyboard layouts, however a script to bring up a window with the keyboard layout each time I switch to the de layout would really help.

When you change settings using the GUI there's a nice 'preview' button in System Settings -> Input Devices -> Keyboard. I had a look at the settings API and couldn't find the function that pulls it up.

I anyone could provide a suggestion I'd appreciate it.

Hi!

You can just run the binary `tastenbrett` (which is german btw.) to display the current layout. Its located in /usr/bin/tastenbrett on Arch. Have fun ;)

btw: I hate the german keyboard layout. You also could use us altgr-intl variants to have the german umlauts available.
