Blame Firefox, it's not a KDE problem.
If it really bothers you there is a Firefox theme that can make things slightly prettier in KDE4, it's not true integration though: http://ramonantonio.net/kde-firefox/ |

yess.. and use qtcurve for your gtk app ... it looks much cleaner than the current kde4 style does in firefox.. in kombination with the kde4 theme for firefox this browser fits in very well...

I opted for the Oxygen theme for Firefox - blends in a treat

I agree with that, and to further improve the KDE-integration you may want to install these firefox-plugins: Flashgot: makes it possible to use Kget as a download manager (yes, I still think FF's built-in one sucks big time). Konquefox: You'll get the option to get the zoom in/out icons as well as the "clear the url bar" icon with this one. Together with gtk-qt-engine and qtcurve, my gtk-apps look almost indistinguishable from KDE ones (with the noticeable exception of that damn file-selector). Well, okay. Not only the file-selector but in general it is hard for an untrained eye to see the difference otherwise.

Now that you mention it there is something in about:config to make it look more like KDE, but I cannot remember for the life of me...

Set ui.allow_platform_file_picker to false. Still not a real KDE4 file dialog, but close.

I wouldn't say close but a lot better than the dreadful default one (and at least it's more consistent with the default qt-dialog). I only wish I could get this damn thing to compile properly... http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.ph ... n+Gtk+Apps)?content=36077 I loved it in KDE 3.x but can't get the KDE4.x one to compile.

It is for Kubuntu I'm glad to say (which is why I forgot what exactly it was). I remember having to do it for Etch and Lenny.

Hi guys,
thanks for all about the good points and tips mentioned here. If you have time, would be very nice if you would have time to write a short "how to" to Tutorials & Tips.

i was able to integrate the download dialog with kde-cp. you know the little "i" that pops into the system tray when you copy a file.
just install the the flash got plugin and save the following script. use flash got to run the script as mentioned on the site: http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.ph ... tent=14785
i changed the last line to use kde-cp so the one on the site is different. |
