Hovering over the Application Menu favorites bar icons in quick succession somehow makes the tooltip fonts scale from low resolution or dpi to current resolution.
I can't for the life of me figure out why or what is causing this. https://i.imgur.com/kYbSWs9.mp4 The system is on Arch Linux with fresh full KDE Plasma install with ootb configurations, and the display is some old generic 27 inch monitor from acer. Any pointers or ideas greatly appreciated! |

Update: also happening on my thinkpad which also has Arch+KDE, so at least the monitor can be ruled out.
I'll try to test this on my two other KDE machines during the weekend to see whether this is a distro and/or xorg-specific issue. |

Update 2: Still a problem, now I've noticed the problem also appears on other panel widgets such as system tray, digital clock and peek at desktop widgets.
https://i.imgur.com/3ifSqNx.mp4 Seems to also happen for Icon-only Task Manager and Task Manager preview thumbnail title names, especially when moving between another widget and the Task Manager. So this is most likely either a KWin, compositor or nvidia-470xx-dkms proprietary driver problem. Different compositor latency settings didn't seem to show any difference, however after suspending compositing with the default Alt+Shift+F12 keyboard shortcut, the whole problem vanished and the tooltips now have zero lag. Suspending the compositor with the below also makes the problem disappear completely:
A mod should probably move this over to KWin section. |
