Will there be a similar possibility to install new Styles or Windowdecos like in all the other parts in the "Appearance - System Settings"?

Nope. Currently window decorations and KDE4 styles are written in C++, which means they have to be compiled. (And binary packages really can't be offered over Get New Themes) The good news is that your distro (and most others I assume) provides window decorations and widget styles via the package manager.

thx for your answer.. hmm.. binary packages.. that makes sense .. but on the other hand .. plasma is so highly themeable and kwin not at all.. ok.. there are some themes in the repos (not really a lot - are they hidden somewhere?)
i found "bespin" and "sculpture" as examples for nice themes that work with kde4..

There is a decoration called deKorator that allows users to make custom decoration visuals without the need for compiling binaries.

hey thx.. i just compiled the unofficial port for kde4 as there is no .deb package.. works great!
http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.ph ... tent=87921 ive got one more question.. dekorator seems to be a good solution.. why not use it as default (or something similar?)

dekorator seems to be a good solution.. why not use it as default [/quote] One feature of Oxygen is the titlebar gradient that seamlessly blends with the window content. deKorator (or any other "engine") cannot handle this, you need actual code to do it. I still plan to add GHNS support to deKorator, though.

DeKorator cannot handle this, but a SVG-based window decorator could do it by re-coloring the base titlebar SVG on the fly. Such a decorator is planned for 4.3 as far as I know.

Even a SVG decoration can't change the top menu widget so custom blending is not possible. As for 4.3 I think I have to drop the decoration as there are much more important things to fix. ![]() |

I'm new and I am just learning. I'm not sure if you know this but you can get compiz and emerald through your add remove programs handler. I have it working. All the shiny borders and everything work nicely. Also the cube desktop and all.
![]() Another real cool site is desktop nexus. Just scroll down and on the left there is a place to click technology and then they have linux and kdm desktops.
