Hi, is it possible to make the systray completly transparent?

At the moment, no. This opaque background was intentionally added to make KDE3 icons (using RGB visuals) fit with KDE4 icons (using ARGB visuals) -- and the box is an RGB area.
I think there is a plan to completely remove the systray. But I don't quite know how they plan to achieve that. |

In KDE 4.3 the system tray is going to be removed and replaced by... a cashew!
![]() OK, maybe not. Aaron has written about the system tray in his blog. You can read a little about it here, and there are also links for further information. (Don't worry, the system tray will not be gone in 4.3. As far as I know.)
