Hello
I use openSUSE 11.0 and KDE4.2RC1 I have activated the desktop cube but I still find it a little bit unhandy to actually start the cube. Either I need to move the mouse to a corner or I need to use a keybord shortcut all this is a little bit more than effectiv. I'd love to use e.g. STRG and middle mouse button pressed where the move of the mouse (with pressed middle mouse button pressed) immedeately starts. Or use a mouse move to activate the display of the cube.... Unfortuately I have not found an option for this - if this is true (there is non) where would I raise a feature request? cu -bushveld

Right click on window border -> Configure Window Behaviour... -> [Desktop Effects]. Choose "Desktop Cube" in "Effect for desktop switching".
I don't know if this is what you want, but it lets you get the cube effect when switching desktop (for example when using the mouse wheel over pager/desktop). But I agree that it would be neat with something like "mouse shortcuts" - so you could bind alt+mouse4 to desktop switching, for example. If I remember correctly Compiz has this feature.

I'm not sure if this is what you want, but apart from what Hans said: if you have a mouse with a scroll-wheel just use the scroll-wheel when nothing is covering the desktop and the cube will pop into action. You won't get the cube per say (that is, the cube and the skydome, if any, won't be shown) but the virtual desktop will slide onto the next "side" of the cube. Note: this won't work if you've set your desktop to use the folderview instead of the deafualt.

Hi I just got kubuntu 8.10 64 bit reinstalled and in desktop effects it shows the cube but it is not working. Am I right that with kde 4.2 does not need any other packages installed like compiz-fusion, it show a compiz wrapper in adept. I was using compiz-fusion with kde 4.1 I have upgrade to kde 4.2 2 other times and things did not work right with compiz-fusion installed also but everything is working great except desktop effects. If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it, thanks in advance.
