opensuse 11.1 x86_64
KDE 4.1.96 (KDE 4.2 RC1) "release 78.1"

i can't for life of me remember (or its possibly been moved 4.1+) where to disable the screen locking when the monitor sleeps. where is that option?

also, i can't figure out which package it is that adds the kcm option "Use my KDE styles in GTK apps." i have a bunch of repos but i can't find the correct package. i tried a few different packages but the option never showed up...

The program name is "GTK-Qt Engine" and would be called something similar in the repositories. For me in Arch Linux it's gtk-qt-engine.

Because in KDE 4.2, "Use KDE colours in non-KDE apps" was moved to System Settings > Appearence > Colours > Advanced.

It is a Power Devil setting (systemsettings -> advanced -> power management)

connect(post, SIGNAL(readSignature()), qapp, SLOT(quit()));

If the list of Gtk styles is empty, please confirm that you have one installed. Otherwise verify its search paths include the appropriate GNOME library locations.

i appreciate the response, but this isn't my problem.
i have gtk styles, but the problem is the "kde4-kcm-gtk" package doesn't provide the option in the system settings module as is seen in my screenshot as it should.

Could you please post the version of kde4-kcm-gtk? It is possible that it is not updated by the openSUSE build service packages.

kde4-kcm_gtk-1.1-128.1

there was kde4-gtk-qt-engine in older versions of opensuse, but i think it was obseleted by kde4-kcm_gtk. the packages conflict, which is why i believe kde4-gtk-qt-engine has been obseleted and this package isn't available for opensuse 11.1.

i did install the older package (kde4-gtk-qt-engine) before and that didn't work either...

I have the same problem with powerdevil. When the latest kde svn. I go into systemsettings as normal user, and go to power management and it crashes because I need permission :S. Then I go in as root and I get this.

"The configuration module can not be started, since there seens to be a problem with PowerDevil Daemon. Read below for more details. Powerdevil seems not to be started. Either you have its service turned off, or there is a problem in DBus."

Powerdevil does not need any root permissions. It performs all its work through Solid I believe. Please check the permissions of files in $HOME, and ensure that other tools that use HAL ( Power Managers in particular ) function.

ah ha! thanks for your comment. i launched system settings as root to see whether the reason it would lock when the monitor goes to sleep was because i had to change the setting as root. sure enough, i got the same error you mentioned in your post.

i don't know what it means or whether it is related though...

Please look in System Settings > Advanced > Service Manager. Powerdevil should be in the list. Also ensure no other power manager is running, and remove the powerdevil configuration file.
