[SOLVED] using sub-pixel font rendering

I need to switch on sub-pixel font rendering, but i cant. The option is grey. Why? I'm using lcd monitor.

Hello Kenzoo123.

What distro are you using? Some of them disable subpixel rendering by default because
of possible patent/legal issues.

It's usually pretty easy to enable using third party sources though.

I'm using Fedora 9. In gnome it works fine but i just switched to KDE and here its not working :-(

I seem to remember that in opensuse (my distro of choice) the freetype2 packages needed to be updated.

You could try following this thread Here

And see if the updated packages there will help.
