I'm seriously trying KDE out for the first time, having used gnome before, and one thing is driving me nuts. I cannot figure out how to show only the tasks from the current desktop in the taskbar. I like to keep a few programs open on seperate desktops all the time (a browser, kontact) and I don't need to always be seeing them on the taskbar.

Or am I thinking too much in gnome terms? Should I be looking a Folder Views as a way of approaching this issue? (I confess I can't really get my head around folder views yet -- they look a lot like shortcuts to me and I know they are more than that.)

Thanks for any help.
Brian

-Right-click on an empty space of the taskbar. (If yours is full of applications, click the plasma icon on the very right of the panel and then right click on the taskbar)
-Select "Task Manager Settings"

From there you should be able to configure the taskbar to your heart's content, and that does include only showing tasks from the current desktop. :-)

Regarding Folder View, it's just a widget to show the content of a directory (think: the icon view part of Dolphin).
