I've installed KDE 4.2 on my fresh install of Ubuntu 8.10 and am a bit disappointed that Plasma isn't working properly with compositing.
Everything else related to compositing works (window transparency, snow, cube, etc) except for the Plasma panels. They're not transparent. =( Is there a way I can fix this?

Solved. After a number of reboots it seems to have fixed its self. Hmm.

Sometimes the panel doesn't pick up the compositing toggle signal, which is why it requires a Plasma restart.

Yeah, I thought it'd be something like that. I'm still not familiar with Qt's signals and slots but I imagine its got to do with a miscommunication there?
Thanks for the explanation Zarin. =) I do hope to brush up on C++ and get well acquainted with the KDE project. I'm loving 4.2. It's a real work of art!
