Hi all, I'm having a couple of minor problems with my KDE 4.2 installation and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction to solve them. I'm not sure they're 'bugs' as such, maybe it's just something about my configuration. Anyway:
1) Every so often and seemingly at random my cursor will change to a strange vertical line with dashes coming off it. I'd post a picture, but screen capture apparently doesn't capture the cursor. Anyhoo, The only way I've found to revert my cursor to what it should be is to kill X and login again. 2) I have a dual display setup (ati restricted driver, big desktop mode) which works really well after some tweaking... however, I use the display utility (in system settings) to set the gamma on my primary monitor and am having a weird problem where the gamma reverts to default when I login until I open the display utility, whereupon it sets to what it should be. Hope that makes sense. Basically I'd like the gamma to be what I set it to without me having to open the display settings every time I login. Hope someone can help with those. |

The corruption on your Cursor is likely a bug in the ATI driver ( given that it is not displayed in a screenshot )
You can try and use the KRandRTray utility to set the Gamma level on login.

Just to clarify, it's not that the cursor corruption isn't shown in a screenshot, the cursor isn't captured at all. I'll give the tray util a go, cheers. |

I will get that sometimes too. It also happens in KDE3. I'm fairly sure it's not a KDE problem, because of the way cursors work. It's either in X.org itself, or in the driver. I see this with the open source Radeon driver. It's fairly rare though.
Don't look back! (Or you might see the giants whose shoulders we stand on)

It did only start happening when I updated my graphics configuration... guess I can write that off as an ati bug then. As for the gamma thing, should I log that as a bug? As far as I can see, other changes made in the display section of system settings are applied at login, but changes to gamma are only applied when you go back into the gamma section. |

Please do file that as a bug, unless it has already been filed.
