gtk theme setting problem

Fri Feb 06, 2009 11:17 am
I installed KDE4.2 finally last night and I have to say it's a real improvement to 4.1 version.
Ok to the business... I didn't like the look of the firefox theme so I tried to change the gtk theme from the GTK styles and fonts menu. Everything appeared to work fine and dialog said I should restart kde -> after start nothing, it said that the new theme was in use but firefox still used the old theme. I solved this with the dumb logic by overwriting the crux theme that firefox was using with the one I wanted to use.
The thing I want to know has someone else had this problem? my quick search didn't find anything from the forums about this problem.

using kde4.2 (release 88.2) on openSuSE11.1

Firefox is notoriously iritating when it comes to respecting the theming of the host OS. In most cases is simply doesn't.

This theme (KFirefox) will make things look a bit smoother, but it's still far from how Konqueror looks (e.g. form widgets), for example.

Pidgin did the same thing, or did before I overwrote the theme.

It's possible both Pidgin and Firefox have override the system wide setting when a theme is set in the application itself. Do applications like Inkscape or Gimp - if you have them installed, that is - respect the GTK styles and fonts setting?

Well the fonta are as they should be. Only the theme setting didn't work as it was supposed. Maybe KDE3 settings got mixed up in the game. I have currently both the kde version installed. But it was not a big problem to fix. Just wanted to bring it up if someone have had same kind of problems with single kde install.
