I have installed all the screensavers available for FC10 (xscreensavers... etc) but none are showing up in the control applet to use. I am using the nVidia closed drivers if that helps any.

I believe screensavers are part of the kdeartwork module. Either way, try running "kbuildsycoca4" to find any ones added recently. Note that non KDE 4 screensavers will not be found.

Did not seem to work. Do I run that command as root?

The "kbuildsycoca4" command must be run for each user. It usually run automatically at logon.
It doesn't need to be run as root.

Well I ran it and still no screensavers... Got this when I ran it: [tylerm@iccproject ~]$ kbuildsycoca4 kbuildsycoca4 running... kbuildsycoca4(12447)/kdecore (KService) KServicePrivate::init: The desktop entry file "ScreenSavers/qstars.desktop" has Type= "Application" but is located under " "services" " instead of "apps" kbuildsycoca4(12447)/kdecore (KService) KBuildServiceFactory::createEntry: Invalid Service : "ScreenSavers/qstars.desktop" kbuildsycoca4(12447)/kdecore (KService) KServicePrivate::init: The desktop entry file "/usr/share/applications/kde/koffice.desktop" has Type= "Application" but no Exec line kbuildsycoca4(12447)/kdecore (KService) KBuildServiceFactory::createEntry: Invalid Service : "/usr/share/applications/kde/koffice.desktop" for the record I was using an ATI vido card with the opnsourced rivers first... now using an nVidia card. No screensavers were working either way.

Do you get any screensavers in the list at all? I had this problem in KDE3, you can read about the solution I found here.

You may be missing required packages, or have not installed ones that KDE 4 can use. Which packages did you install?

I used yum to install the xscreensaver packages including the opengl screensavers. Also, I installed the kdeartwork and kdeartwork-extras

According to this post here: http://christopher.rasch-olsen.no/2008/ ... eensavers/
Installing kdeartwork-extras is supposed to provide the screensavers. Try running this command, after ensuring that all packages listed there are installed:
