I have a dark system theme right now that I like but it turns everything in firefox dark - which I do not like. Is there a way to keep firefox from changing it's font colors when the system colors are changed?

Try disabling "Use KDE Colors in non-KDE applications" ( System Settings > Appearence > Colors > Advanced )

In FF, Edit -> Preferences -> Content
Under "Fonts & Colors", click on "Colors..." and change the text color. Although most of the colors are governed by the website itself.
