Hi,

I'm using KDE 4.2.0/1 in my openSUSE 11.1 Desktop.

My Desktop is a "Folder View" of my ./Desktop folder, like KDE3.x ou Gnome.

I can move any icon where I want, but location (position) of my icons are not remembered when I quit and I go back.

Why, and how to make it working ?

Thanks !

Have you selected 'Unsorted' in Folder view settings>Display? If you haven't, it will always sort them.

As far as I can see, you can only display them as part of a grid; so they won't stay exactly where you place them.

Yes :
Unsorted, aligned to the grid.

But even not aligned, it doesn't work.

I removed my .kde4 to make a fresh configuration, same problem.

Maybe Plasma is silently crashing... open Konsole, move an icon to its preferred position then run in Konsole, which will close Plasma down safely.
Code: Select all
kquitapp plasma

Then start Plasma up again:
Code: Select all
plasma &

Does the icon remember its postion?

Hello slyce

What version of QT are you using?

I've found that using QT 4.5 on opensuse can make the icons in a folderview refresh
at certain moments (sometimes on opening yast but mainly when restarting KDE)
and revert to the default icon locations.

It's one of the reasons I'm sticking with QT4.4 for now.

Cheers

T
