Powermanagement and suspend-hybrid

Thu Mar 26, 2009 7:21 pm
Hi all,

I was wondering, why I can't choose "Suspend to both" in KDE4 powermanagement profiles. I'm using uswsusp (which works flawlessly from the commandline). HAL knows about that:

Code: Select all
ArchBook:~$ lshal | fgrep suspend
  org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.SystemPowerManagement.method_execpaths = {'hal-system-power-suspend', 'hal-system-power-suspend-hybrid', 'hal-system-power-hibernate', 'hal-system-power-shutdown', 'hal-system-power-reboot', 'hal-system-power-set-power-save'} (string list)
  power_management.can_suspend = true  (bool)
  power_management.can_suspend_hybrid = true  (bool)
  power_management.quirk.dpms_suspend = true  (bool)

But it looks like, as if solid didn't get it:

Code: Select all
ArchBook:~$ solid-powermanagement query suspend
to_disk
to_ram

It's a Samsung NC 10 with an up to date ArchLinux. Although the battery holds quiet long, I'd love to use s2both for safety reasons ;-)

Thanx in advance,
Michael

This is probably due to the feature not being present in Solid, and therefore not being available to KDE applications. Please file a feature request for Solid regarding this. Please also file a feature request asking for this support to be added to the menu, mentioning the other bug in it.
