just to make sure. Kubuntu 8.04 and 8.10 have this problem (just tested).
OpenSuse 11.0 and Mandriva 2009 doesn't.

Another Ubuntu specific bug.
Oh, well. Solution: move to an unaffected distro ( openSuSE, Gentoo, Mandriva )
KDE Sysadmin

I'm experiencing the same glitch in Archlinux on both my desktop (nvidia card) and laptop (intel card). So it's not a Kubuntu specific bug.

I've tried it too. I think it just makes the glitch a little bit less obvious, but it's still there. So this is not the solution. Edit: I'm also trying to test this in OpenSUSE. I've downloaded the DVD twice already and KTorrent made some ridiculous complaint then deleted the image... Edit2: I don't know how to install nvidia drivers in suse. Guess I won't be testing it.

Count me in, please.
X1600, fglrx 8.9 (with 8.3 it was the same). Kubuntu Hardy. Happens regardless Desktop Effects status (And I often turn them on/off, via a nice Toggle-Compositing plasmoid, cause ATI drivers does not support Direct rendering of redirected windows properly, and nobody knows when it will). Btw: there is also a "trash" withing the transparent(meant to be) parts of the Icons in System Tray. Does anybody else experience this annoying thing?... :undecided:

That's well known too. They're already working on it, but shockingly it won't be fixed until KDE4.2 (next year). Here's the bug report: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=158094

so...it seems to be a KDE4 bug and NVIDIA drivers suffer more than ATI...
I've a Nvidia GeForce Go 7600 with same problem |

marse is right. This only happens after you turn on Firefox.
Everyone who said it doesn't happen to them, can you please try it again, this time with Firefox open.
