I have compiled it and nothing changed :-( But the problem of 180.08 with fonts seems to be fixed in 180.11. At least something...

I can confirm, no problems with 180.11.

Just did a fresh install of Kubuntu 8.10 and added the KDE 4.2 beta 1 experimental repo and also installed nvidia 180.11, performance is much better with no obvious issues noticed so far.

180.06+ fixed it for me and 2-3x the speed.

180.11 fixes some more problems, so perhaps better upgrade.

Downloading...

EDIT: Kwin's compositing has no more glitches, but Dolphin is still laggy.

I have been following without luck the progress of the 180.* driver. I'm now at version 180.18. Like many other people, I am unable to launch successfully into my X server with this. For now, I'm back with 177.82. With choppy resizing, and slooow scrolling. I don't think anyone points the finger at the KDE team though. It's those closed source fiends over at NVidia!

I decided that I put my thoughts on paper. I did, and it made me feel just a little better. Please check it out, it's mainly about the nvidia + kde4 story.

Here's the link:
NVidia GForce, not KForce

Thanks very much, and leave comments if you feel inclined to do so!

I have the same feeling about NVidia. I plan to build a new computer (amd64 finally) and I was even thinking about buying ATI card, but seems to me ATI drivers are still even worse. As NVidia has a big problem with KDE4 I am thinking about staying with KDE 3.5.10 which makes me sad as KDE 4.2 will be definitely great. The first KDE4 which will be ready for everyday work :-(

Is there anyone tried 180.22 and likes to share? I am running Kubuntu 8.10 kde4.2rc and it still feels a little bit not as responsive as comparing to gnome. I didn't benchmark it, but it does feel sharper than before.

Well, I am lost.

And what about tray icons? Are the glitches away on your installation?
I still have it there, it is awful :-(

I use Nvidia 8600GT and the latest driver - 180.22 on
Ubuntu ( Kde 4.2 Beta )

Here is what my desktop looks like.

It doesn't have any glitches at system tray. What does yours look like?
