How could I use qdbus org.kde.VisualNotifications /VisualNotifications to display a notify window? In particular pass QVariantMap type parameters...
For example, qdbus org.kde.VisualNotifications /VisualNotifications Notify "app_name" 0 0 "" "header" "text" "" ?? 5000 I've get error: Sorry, can't pass arg of type 'QVariantMap' What I need specify instead "??" ? Here one year ago were discussions about it viewtopic.php?f=66&t=23580&start=10#p75686 but using Python script, but I need from shell/commandline

qdbus does not support QVariantMap I believe, so you need to use a coded application ( whether Python / C++ / etc ) to do it.

It's pretty sad that Linux is turning away from the modular, text-based approach that made it great.

In this case, it is simply a lack of an application which is able to send the appropriate types. This is due to the fact that console applications do not usually send KDE notifications.
