By the way ,wicd work fine in slackware current. the other one is kpackage: even though I install smart, kpackage still could not find any package i installed. It worked fine in kde 3. KPackage is not functional, and has been removed I believe.
Which application in KDENetwork outputs the XML reading error?

Thanks for your kind reply. So you mean KPackage will never be functional for slackware? That's really a bad news.I am wondering why such good function in kde 3 was disabled in kde 4. The network problem I met is the same like this link: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions ... gs-753040/ |

KPackage was unmaintained since years, and despite some work it got a couple of years ago, it never worked properly. Thus it has been removed from KDE 4.4.

I suspect the module you are trying to use is KNetworkConf which I have never used myself as distribution utilities tend to be better integrated ( and Network Manager works out of the box without problems )

the error you are seeing was due to an incomplete patch that made efforts to update knetworkconf for slackware-13.0. after investigation, even if it didn't give that error, it would still not properly integrate with slackware. like bcooksley stated, using existing distribution utilities or methods will be your best bet here. either get to know /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf or for most desktop instances, the wicd package from /extra does a super job of managing interfaces. |
