Hello,
I have a Core 2 Quad and an Nvidia Gtx 275. However, under the fine tuning for the oxygen theme, if I set the effects to anything other than low CPU usage I get stuttering window minimization and a generally sluggish desktop. Does anyone else experience this and if so do they know how to alleviate it? Thanks. |

I should also mention I'm running KDE SC 4.4.1 from Kubuntu backports on 9.10.

Can you please file a bug at bugs.kde.org?

I think this may be a Kubuntu related problem. I just installed Chakra which is based on Arch Linux. It has none of the speed problems that Kubuntu has. I can run with high cpu usage animations and not experience the slowdowns that occur in Kubuntu.

Upon further digging in the forum I found that this is a problem related to having animations enabled in the appearance settings.
viewtopic.php?f=111&t=87020&p=153707&hilit=opensuse#p153707 The link above outlines the details of the bug and how to address it. On both Chakra Linux and Kubuntu following these instructions I can set my CPU usage at Very High and the effects remain smooth. |
