customize menu with plasma-netbook

Mon Aug 30, 2010 10:13 am
Hello

I've just installed the plasma-netbook workspace under Debian Squeeze.

First, I have to say you've done a great job, this interace is great to use, and nice looking!

Now, my problem: I was wondering if it's possible to customize the menu in the "search and launch" tab.

I've tried to modify using kmenuedit but it doesn't have any effect.

Can you help me?
thanks in advance.

Ok, I succeed editing menu using kmenuedit. I give my solution.
Sometimes, it didn't work because of two reasons:
- the Option "NoDisplay=true" in the file *.desktop
- a bad category in the file *.desktop
The desktop file has to be edited and is located in .local/share/applications/

I found another problem with java application. They are not supported with plasma-netbook interface. They didn't appear in the widget "active applications". Hence, when I minimize a java application, it comes below the plasma interface, and the only solution is to make:
Code: Select all
killall java

to close the application
Any idea about this or is it bug?

That issue is definitely a bug, either in the application, your window manager ( likely KWin ) or Plasma itself.

Please provide the information you have found regarding KMenuEdit at bugs.kde.org. That may help a developer to fix the issue.
