JaKi wrote:IMHO plasma themes shouldn't be allowed to change icon settings, that goes much too far. User icon settings always should be in first place. We have icon themes for customizing the icons. Plasma themes should stay in their range.

Alec wrote:I agree, and I'm sure there are quite a few other people that do too, since I saw the instructions to delete the grey icons in quite a few places. However, when I reported that back in the Beta 1 phase, I was told that "not only is it a purposeful design decision but has been met with pretty much overwhelmingly positive feedback."

As with Alec I also agree with JaKi on this point.

With regard to the 'overwhelmingly positive feedback' the comments in this thread and those in the poll thread started by Alec don't reflect this.

These are the icons I use now, pretty standard. The white kmix icon got some orange "sound" from me because IMHO that is much better on a dark plasma theme: http://www.materialordner.de/96pIOET6S7 ... YM1LL.html (icons will stay there for 48 hours). The wallet icon is too small. Any idea?

Just found this: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=243498

I like all three proposals of Peter Paulsen, that would be perfect IMHO. At the least the last two proposals, awareness of theme additions in the user's home and using icons from another plasma theme should be realizable? I'd really love to see that.

I second what he says here: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=243387
"What we just need is an easy way for the user to change those icons - not a discussion about the decision of the devs."

I've tried and tried. Deleted icons directory from usr/share/apps/desktoptheme/default/ as well as replacing the icons with other ones. Even after reboot, still get the same ugly white icons. Any suggestions?

Do you use another theme that comes with own pale icons?

Another suggestion: maybe it helps to clear something in /var/tmp/kdecache-<username>. There themes are cached.

Thanks for your advice, Jaki. /var/tmp/kdecache-<username> looked interesting, but it prompted me to think of a new idea. I simply went into theme settings and customized the task items to another theme, then back to Air. Finally.

There was apparently a big update to this desktop / theme. A lot of the bugs that got on my nerves were fixed. Everything about the update was great except for these boring white icons.
