Hi ;)

In KDE 4.5.2 i can't find where to lock up NUMLOCK, can you help please ?
I did not find where to set this up in kde settings :
How do you do to have numlock on all the time ?

I have /etc/sysconfig/hardware/keyboard/kbd-numlock already on yes.
If i try to change it i have an error : kbd service is not started

Any clue on this ?

Thanks ;)

I don't know if it will be enough for you, but try: System-settings->Hardware->Input devices->Keyboard.

You'll find a "Numlock on KDE startup" there.

Hello ;)

I'm using kde 4.5.2 and not sure if i'm looking at the right place : How do you open system settings ?
in mine i can't find anything related to hardware; it has four parts : workspace, general behavior, network, system admin.

In Yast (i'm an opensuse 11.3 user) i have system keyboard layout which is already to 'yes' for Numlock

I have the same setup (OpenSuse 11.3 and KDE 4.5.2. that is), and I do anything out of the ordinary to open - that is, just launch it straight from the menu as shipped. The only difference is I haven't touched the sysconfig values - neither manually or by using yast.

You really should have the following categories visible when you start system-settings (or Personal Settings as it's called in the suse menu):

"Common appearance and behavior"
"Workspace appearance and behavior"
"Network and connectivity"
"Hardware"
"System administration"
"Lost and found"

Do you use the factory repos or the KDE45 repos to get 4.5.2 packages? It shouldn't make a difference, but I use the KDE45 ones since I got too many troubles (may be fixed now since it was a while ago) when using the facory repos, I suspect because of Qt 4.7.

Hello ;)

i'm sorry this is my mistake : when i open system settings i have as you exactly, as you gave the details i have been able to check and seeing such a difference was so strange that i stopped on it ... to discover that by default the window opens so that i can't see the hardware and lost and found parts that are below system admin ...
I've got it and changed it , thanks a lot ! ;)

Just in case i also found another way to do this with an autostart script, read this, it's interesting :
http://forums.opensuse.org/english/info ... se108.html

I'm still wondering why the service can't be restarted without failure but this might be a font problem and is a different question ;)
