PCLOS 2010.12 KDE4.5.4 / kernel 2.6.33.7-pclos6.bfs on several laptops with Intel mobile 4 and 945GM graphics appear to be broken by system upgrade to KDE 4.6.3

Control Center and xorg.conf show "i810 and later" graphics driver being used but lsmod shows i915 driver loaded.

BEFORE the upgrade KDE desktop effects appeared OK. AFTER upgrade, distro recommends using intel xorg drivers but system keeps loading i810 module.

BLUR is unchecked. Desktop effects work for a while but various errors.

1. resolution settings change randomly logging out to new user
2. Kwin auto disables effects as too slow
3. KDE notifier "monitor output has changed" pops up sometimes 40 times in one session. Must RSEIUB to reboot.
4. At login screen I can select restart x server before logging in to new user and this fixes, but only for session.
5. Logging out sometimes hangs to black screen then must RSEIUB to reboot.

Any ideas what's up with KDE 4.6.3 and intel graphics drivers.

Thanks

Sounds like your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file needs regenerating. The conflicts between the two drivers are probably causing the resolution changes and the compositing problems.
