I accidentally removed the little indicator applet from my tray...it had a little "i" in a circle and apparently controlled popups that told me about various events...like copying of files and so forth. Unfortunately, I don't know how to get it back and one of my programs apparently needs it (I think). How do I get it back?

right click on system tray -> system tray settings -> display -> check Notifications -> ok
