Hide Icons in Menu?

Again a question related to icons :)

Is there any option to turn on/off the icons in (dropdown-)menus for KDE programs (similar to Gnome default)?

I guess this is what you are looking for: systemsettings -> Application Appearence -> Style -> Fine Tuning -> Toolbars. Change "Main toolbar text" to "Text Only".

Or, if it's only menus, uncheck "Show icons in menus" in the same place.
