Can someone point me to a guide or explain - how I can add programs
to the application launcher for all users.

For example I have a couple of scripts that do things with rdesktop and seamlessrdp that all users need access to. I would like to put an icon
in the 'Applications/Utilities' area ( this is openSUSE ) so users can
kick off my scripts with a pretty icon.

You will need to locate the *.desktop files the menu editor created for you. They should be under ~/.local/share/applications.

Then copy them to /usr/share/applications and have the users run kbuildsycoca4 if needed - and it should show up.
