RandR-Question

Sun Feb 19, 2012 6:02 pm
Hello
I have a pivotable Screen, which I use most in portrait mode. Except for gimping, here I prefer the landscape modus.

So I set in the /etc/X11/xorg.conf the Filter RandRRotation to yes:
Code: Select all
Section "Screen"
    Identifier     "Screen0"
    Device         "Device0"
    Monitor        "Monitor0"
    DefaultDepth    24
    Option         "TwinView" "0"
    Option         "metamodes" "nvidia-auto-select +0+0"
    Option         "RandRRotation" "yes"
    SubSection     "Display"
        Depth       24
    EndSubSection

I have also set up under Key combinations the group Hotkeys and defined:
Description: portrait, Trigger Alt+7, action: xrandr -o right
Description: landscape, Trigger Alt+0, action xrandr -o normal

Now I have a problem:
Alt+7 is working absolutely to my expectation
Alt+0 is not working at all.
I have checked more than once if the combination is correct, I have even created other combinations, always the same result: I could not turn the screen to horizontal.

Are there any ideas?

I also checked all other Key-combinations if I create a dupicate trigger, but no. No other similar code.

I hope someone has a solution, because always changing via System settings --> Monitor --> size and orientation into Landscape is not really great, if I could do that with Alt+0.

I had a prop working with both positions under Unbuntu 09.10, Kubuntu 10.10, LMDE.

If you execute "xrandr -o normal" manually, does it work?

If not, have you tried executing "xrandr -o 0" to see if that works?

How do you mean «manually»? In the console?

Thanks for the idea. it does not work with 0 (zero) or O (upper case o)

Re: RandR-Question  Topic is solved

Hello

The thing was not letting me sleep, so I tried a bit longer. This time, I managed:

I found the KHotkeys in Global Keys. There were already Keys for the Portrait action, but not for the Landscape action. So I set these commands on Standard, which meant no action. Then I went again to «My own short cuts», addes a new group which I call «RandR» and opend the two commands for Landscape and Portrait. And what a pleasant surprise:

EVERYTHING WORKS NOW !!!

So, I am quite happy.
