How can I change the brightness step scale? The maximum is too much and one notch below too little. I can have access to the whole range by doing

echo -n X > /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness

but not using the fn keys

Sorry, but it seems that the step of "10" in terms of the brightness change is hardcoded into KDE Power Management. You will need to either alter the source code - or request this be changed.
