Padding around icons in the panel

Thu Feb 23, 2012 3:08 pm
Hi,

How can I add some padding around the icons in the panel? I think that my laptop will look a little bit nicer if I could add some pixels in the top and the bottom of the icons. Right now the icons take almost all the space available in the panel and they are too close to the edge.

Another question. I just switched back to the default KDE panel. I use Mandriva 2011 and it uses RocketBar. Is it possible to have only the icons in the task manager instead of the icons and the text of the application.

Thanks.

re: icons only: don't know Rocketbar but you could try a different task manager - icon tasks http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/Ic ... ent=144808 or smooth tasks http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/Sm ... ent=148813 there is a fancy tasks but I do not believe it works with 4.8

you could also check the Rocketbar settings to see if text is optional

For your information, Icon Tasks are included in 4.8.x, if that's the version your distro uses it should have a package for it (usually called kdeplasma-addons).

Regarding the padding: I don't think that's possible unless you introduce a padding for all elements in the panel. You may want to try the Quicklaunch widget and see if it looks better.
