hello dear fellows
i've recently noticed my ctrl-W shortcut was not working anymore (dolphin, gwenview, firefox...) and this is very ennoying for two reasons : 1/ i am use to it so my semi auto ctrl-W does nothing... 2/ i do not understand why !!! 3/i cannot fix it in a clean way !! 3 : moving ~/.kde to ~/.kde-old and closing/restarting session solves it, but i have quite a lot of customization to do !!! i've tried a comparison between .kde-old and newly created .kde with diff -r but could'nt find/understand what happens ... only uuid's related to ctrl-W shortcuts were different : ![]() anyways this is related to an update... so what's wrong ? i run kde 4.6.5 on natty (kubuntu 11.04) hope someone might help... (already asked on french ubuntu forums) thanks, apoG

you had ctrl+w assigned to some global shortcut - that's all.
It is then oc. not available to other applications. It's not necessary you did that yourself, some application *might* have pre-defined this as global shortcut (what, given the widespread usage would be a bug in that application) If such happens again, try to allocate ctrl+w as global shortcut ("kcmshell4 keys") - the dialog will then tell you what currently has it assigned. |
