I'm using kde 4.1.2 on archlinux, seems there are problems with mime type assosation:

firefox open with dialog doesn't show up the applications list for example ark (on gnome works fine) but I have to select the location (/usr/bin/ark), I read several tips but none seems to work really fine with firefox 3. The best solution seems kfmclient (I would like the application list was automatically updated when I update file assosation in control center)

any hints?

You'll need to ask this on a Firefox forum, unless KDE applications' "open with" dialogs are not working either.
