I found a couple of scripts that can advertise the artist/song you are listening to on an IRC channel when using Konversation but they are sadly out dated and do not seem to work any longer. Does any one know of a current stable script that can do this?

Hi,
Konversation has had a now playing script bundled for many, many years. Just use '/media', or '/audio' and '/video' to ask only audio and video players, respectively, or '/media <playername>' to ask a specific player. If you try a development version of Konversation you can also check out the rewritten next-gen version of the script, now with MPRIS2 support.

Thanks for the quick reply! Is there any sort of service menu capability I am missing to? I had used NoNameScript with AMIP which offered the ability to right click in mIRC/NNS and advertise the song being played.

No, but there's the Quick Buttons functionality which lets you put a button for '/media' below the nickname list.
(Actually, there's a new feature in the development version which will optionally show user-specific Quick Buttons in a submenu of the nickname context menu, both in the nickname list and the chat text area. Since '/media' isn't user-specific that wouldn't matter here, but I thought I'd mention it anyway.)

Is the dev version (for kubuntu atleast) generally stable? Is there a ppa available?

Yeah, we generally keep the master branch fit for daily use. I can't comment on Kubuntu availability unfortunately as I don't use that distro personally.
