Kopete doesn't connect with the jabber server anymore. He does check the password correctness, but then gives the following pop-up:
There was a transport layer security (TLS) error: failed to establish a secure connection. I use the connection values from the facebook website. Can anyone help? |

Which distribution are you using? Recently there was a report that changes in openssl broke Kopete with Google Talk (which uses SSL/TLS as well). I suspect this may be related.
Please make sure all updates to your system are installed.

I have the same problem.
On one system it works and on the other the stated error message shows up. Both systems are running Ubuntu 12.04. However the system where it works is an old installation with many software installed and de-installed, whereas the system where it isn't working is a clean 12.04 installation. Thus probably the issue is a missing packet, but I don't know which one. |

From what I understand (from Googling around) it appears that Kopete is missing support for entering the SSL/TLS modes which Facebook support when they want it to. (I think it is a newer/optional part of the XMPP protocol, not sure though).

Having the same problem here with KDE4.9 on openSuSE 12.2. I have installed the newest versions available (V1.3.3 KDE 4.9.3, r 520). When can we expect this problem to be fixed?

One would have to check with the Kopete developers to find that out - however it is probable that KDE Telepathy will work fine with Facebook, so you may want to try that.

I tried out Telepathy, and it works fine with facebook. Thogh it is missing some features, I will give it a shot. It at least looks very promising and supports more protocols than Kopete.
