This is a problem, I have since years.

I want to access my files which are on another computer (e.g., xyz.de). If this computer has a ssh server running, I often use dolphin or konqueror to access the files via the kioslaves. Sometimes I just receive the following message
The process for the fish://xyz.de protocol died unexpectedly

Usually, I press F5 several times and eventually I am always able to access my files.

This problem maybe occurs more often if the network connection of the remote ssh server is slow.
This problem maybe occurs more often if I have already another ssh connection to the remote ssh server.
But if this problem occured, I never had a similar problem with the ssh commandline client or scp.
I had this problem with several computers running different KDE configurations.

Now my question is: What is an easy way to analyze this problem?
I would like to find out why this process died.

The best way to check would be by enabling all debug output using "kdebugdialog", then running tail over ~/.xsession-errors to see if any interesting error messages appear.

You could also try using sftp:// instead of fish:// to access the server.

Thanks. I did no know that it could be usefull to check ~/.xsession-errors.

These are the errors of a failed attempt to open a pdf file.

Is there a way to get more detailed information about this ####### CRASH ######?

I would recommend installing debug symbols, and following this article to get a backtrace - http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tut ... g_IOSlaves
