Hi everyone!
Having recently bought a new laptop, I installed a fresh 12.10 Kubuntu and did all upgrades. Since I didn't install my all-time favourite (Firefox), I decided to give rekonq a shot to see how it evolved since 11.04. On the positive points: - Smoothier and faster than before. - Much better compatibility with websites - Annoying bugs resolved (sorry I don't remember them precisely) - Excellent start page with quick access and quick tabs to different sources (THIS is a killer feature). - Integration with KDE desktop ? (didn't really look into this, but I suppose..) On the negative points -when saving anything through "save under" command, default directory is the root (/). This is NOT expected behaviour, and will undoubtely lose any unexperienced user. Additionnaly, it doesn't record your chosen folder to use it as "last folder", so problem occurs everytime. This is a deal breaker. - having an option to search directly in address bar is great (aka google: my research). What is not is the utmost erratic behaviour of it. Sometimes it won't accept spaces, sometimes it will. Sometimes it will interpret the typing as a local file search, other times it will launch a search on web. I have NO INDICATION whatsoever, as a user, to understand and predict why and how the software will react. This is really frustrating. That's it, I couldn't tell much more for now. In short, this is a nice alternative browser for quick navigation, but some annoying things prevent it from being the main (besides the fact that Firefox is much more extensible, which is another question entirely). Thanks for reading. |

For the saving issue, have you confirmed that the appropriate paths are set in System Settings > Account Details > Paths?
