can kopete change gtalk icon/photo?

Sat Jan 12, 2013 10:28 pm
Hi thanks for reading my post. I just started using gtalk in kopete and I have a problem in changing the gtalk photo. I tried to use a new "Avatar" photo but I asked my friends in gtalk they told me that my gtalk photo was not changed. As a comparison I used a new "buddyicon" in pidgin, and my friends told me that now my gtalk photo was changed. Is it possible that kopete can support this feature as well?

As a more clear explanation, the icon, or photo, I was talking about is the picture one usually sees in the webpage of gmail, in Settings-->General-->My picture. By default in the chat section in Gmail webpage, what contacts see is this picture.

Thanks.

I suspect the method Kopete is using to set your profile photo is either not supported by GTalk or is itself broken inside Kopete.
There isn't much I can suggest other than setting the profile photo through the Google web interface, and filing a bug report concerning this at bugs.kde.org.

As an alternative, you may also wish to try out KDE Telepathy, although i'm not sure at what stage of development it is at in regards to this feature.
