Help with using QQ in Kopete

Has anyone succeeded in connecting the popular Chinese IM client QQ with Kopete? I have Chinese friends who I'd like to connect with and I'd rather use Kopete than Windows on VirtualBox. I have not tried any other Linux IM clients.

What error message do you get when you try to add / connect with a QQ account?
My Kopete installation here appears to offer "QQ" as an option.
