Show IP when mouse hovers above Knetwork

In kde 3.5.x you could hover the mouse over knetwork and a small popup message would appear telling you 2 things, the name of the interface and the ip it has. Could it be possible to configure this and tell it what do you want to show in the pop up message or at least show the ip instead of for example "Wired Network Connection" or other non informative messages. The IP was my most used quick feature for the knetwork since i didnt have to do clicks or open a terminal to show the ip. Quick and easy.
