Hello,
I have just built a new machine running ubuntu 12.04 / cinnamon 1.88 / kget 2.8.5 It is not retaining any download history and .kde/share/apps/kget/ has no logs and is empty except for a checksum directory. The config directory has a file called kget.notifyrc which contains -
Is that where the log path needs to be set? What are the other lines? Kget is also not reconnecting to interrupted downloads. |

No. kget.notifyrc is for the notifications. The config would be in kgetrc. But you don't have to edit that file by hand. You can also right-click on the KGet icon in the system tray and select "Configure KGet...". But I'm not aware of any possibility or need to set the logfile path. The default SQlite log has the fixed path ~/.kde/share/apps/kget/transferhistory.db AFAIK. And the currently active downloads would be in ~/.kde/share/apps/kget/transfers.kgt. |

That's funny - there was no transfers.kgt there. Until I created an empty log file, pointed to it in the config GUI, then it appeared. Edit: And it added my logfile to kget.notifyrc - Logfile=file:///home/fnord/.kde/share/apps/kget/log/kget_log |

Now that's strange. I don't even have a kget.notifyrc... Maybe you encountered a bug in 2.8.5? I'm using 2.10.95 (KDE 4.11 RC1) here. |

Is is it worth reporting? If so, to whom? |

2.8.5 is obsolete since a year, and apparently this bug doesn't occur in current versions. So there's no use in reporting it to KDE's bugzilla. You could of course report it to your distribution if you want to. |

A kget.notifyrc file will probably only exist if you have opened Settings > Configure Notifications, and changed a setting there.
It is not necessary for the file to exist for KGet or the notification system to properly function - as the system wide version of the file will be used instead.
