Which type of VPN client are you looking at setting up (ie. PPTP, OpenVPN, VPNC, StrongSwan, Novell, etc)?

G'day jerodjones and bcooksley,
I too am trying to use a VPN(any that will work) with kubuntu 13.10 I'm 1week new with kubuntu have been using openSuse for a few months and tried a hit and miss their. What i've been doing is getting familiar with Linux, settling in have taken an instant liking for kubuntu so using this daily now did use openvpn on Win7 and Softether Linux is completly different. Stating from scatch. I've just now fired up KVpnc downloaded a openvpn config file from http://www.vpngate.net/en/ there is other choice/s their L2TP/IPsec. Just having a poke around and noticed the Generate Openvpn Key gave that a feel it's all negative still Now noticing User Name and P/W are 'vpn' so after this post I'll see where I insert these maybe than I may generate a Key ca. and all that. I'm keen I'll be back. I won't rant to much and create vices. So I'll go back and play. Picture is of one attempt deleted other 1 so I don't get mixed up, ave' a good Day: (<--Hope this works) I see I can't upload screen shot directly, I'll go to Tinypic. regards pfrench -(should of called myself Andy) |

Instead of using KVpnc, I would suggest using the native VPN functionality inbuilt to Network Management. This can be configured from "Manage Connections". If VPN is greyed out in this dialog, or the necessary type of VPN is now available from the Add menu on the VPN tab, please check in your package manager to ensure all the necessary Network Manager VPN plugins are installed.

I have setup the connection in Network Managment. But how to connect to this VPN now?

A VPN connection can be initiated by opening the System Tray icon for Network Management, and selecting the VPN from the list under Connections.
