I need to find a password that i used on a website. I clicked the save password button and it shows up in the password field when i access the webpage, but i need to log on to the website in another web browser. I need to know where the passwords are stored and how i can crack them. thanks in advance.

passwords for KDE should be in Kwallet, use kwalletmanager to access but if you use FF or a different browser they may be stored by the browser.

kwallet doesn't have anything saved for konqueror.

my understanding was if Kwallet was enabled Konqueror used it, look in the passwords and the ketworkmanagement sections

for some reason, konqueror never used kdewallet. I feel it would be easier if i could find the password file and use john the ripper on it, but I just can not find any password files.

As far as I am aware, Konqueror is only able to store passwords in KWallet - there is no other method. This applies for both the Webkit and KHTML rendering engines.
While this might seem unusual, please check in KWalletManager again, checking under "Maps" instead of "Passwords" for all of the relevant categories present there. Particularly look in the one labeled "Passwords".
