good day dear Experts,:)

i ve generated keys with KGpg - on opensuse 12.3

I'm planning to use the generated keys on a second machine
also opensuse with KGpg.

So I figure how to transfer the keys to my other computer.
And if so how do I go about transferring the keys?

Both keys - the public and the private are in such a formate:
Code: Select all
--BEGIN PGP PUBLIC KEY BLOCK-----
Version: GnuPG v2.0.22 (GNU/Linux)

mQENBFLTAvIBCADuDg3k7uy0RbOEkxcnBGUs1yNVoUqV9UhcL+YwGIj6KgNChTwF
Ne8HrJWhnCdhJp1fKprMClB0BpYIs0p3K/HVK+yYNeHERO0e9QKglNMRQtMEcOx5

and so on.

and here we have the private key:

Code: Select all
--BEGIN PGP PRIVATE KEY BLOCK-----
Version: GnuPG v2.0.22 (GNU/Linux)

fff333mmmmbbggttmQENBFLTAvIBCADuDg3k7uy0RbOEkxcnBGUs1yNVoUqV9UhcL+YwGIj6KgNChTwFNe8HrJWhnCdhJp1fKprMClB0BpYIs0p3K/HVK+yYNeHERO0e 9QKglNMRQtMEcOx5

and so on.

is this correct!? Do the keys look like that.

Question: is this an PGP-Key that is encrypted with ASCII armor

How do i trnasfer the keys to the second machine -

note i work with KGpg?

Should i copy the keys in the abovem entioned formate and then do a import!?

Yes, those exports look correct. You can simply copy them over to the other machine, open KGpg, press Ctrl-V and select the files and import the keys.

Another easy way is to simply copy over ~/.gnupg which will also copy all other keys that you have (e.g. public keys of other people).

An unrelated note: by posting parts of your private keys data here you have already weakened this key. If your key is a 1024 one you should now consider it unsecure. In all other cases it's just weaker than any other key of that length, but the remaining length should still be above 1024 bit. I personally would create a new one in any case.

Your favorite KGpg maintainer.
