Hi,
Could anyone tell me why my environment starts in some abbreviated bourne shell instead of my normal csh shell when using realvnc 5.1 to access my Linux box? I am running KDE 4.3.5 and if I sit at the console it starts csh as it should. But if I remotely login using RealVNC 5.1, it starts in bourne shell, but not even that correctly. It doesn't run my .bashrc script. If I start a new konsole it doesn't have the correct shell either. If I start a new konsole from the command-line thusly: konsole -e /bin/csh it starts a new konsole in csh as it should. I am runnning SuSE 11.2 Any ideas why this is happening? Thanks tom twurgl@goodyear.com |

It could be something to do that openSUSE 11.2 went end of life last November 1. You could try installing SUSE 13.1 which will be supported until November 1, 2016.

I would suggest investigating into RealVNC - it is likely setting the shell itself, which would explain why this happens. No part of KDE changes the user specified shell.
