im running kde 4.11.3 on debian jessie.

any reason my network applet looks like this?

the reason i ask is because last time i used KDE it was different to this, more detailed.

forgive my ignorance, but is this a new version or something different?

im using network-manager on debian to recognise my wifi.

This appears to be the new plasma-nm applet - the older one was becoming very difficult to maintain and so was rewritten in QML. I'm not sure at this point whether it's functionality has since been re-expanded unfortunately - the only way to find out would be to upgrade KDE (and the plasma-nm applet) to their latest versions to find out.
