Hi, I'm having trouble with saving an OpenVPN connection in Mint 16 KDE 64-bit.

NetworkManager is running and openvpn, vpnc, network-manager-openvpn and network-manager-vpnc are all installed. I click on the network widget in the system tray, choose "Edit Connections" and the Connection Editor opens.

"Add OpenVPN" is a viable option in the Connection Editor and I can enter all the details required apart from my password as the password box appears to be greyed out. When I click "OK" at the bottom of the "Add New Connection" dialog, however, the window just disappears and leaves me with nothing in "Connections" but my original ethernet connection (which is working just dandy).

Any ideas gratefully received. Am I missing something? Well clearly, but what?! No error messages, no obvious fallings over.

Simon.

In the connections editor, can you try checking under the other tabs (such as VPN) to ensure it isn't appearing there instead? If I recall correctly, connections are separated by type (Wired, Wireless, VPN, Mobile Broadband, etc).

Thanks for replying!

There aren't any tabs. The connections (if there was more than one) appear to be in a dropdown list with expandable sub-levels; like you get in the details view in Dolphin. The only level currently is "Wired" with my standard ethernet connection under it.

Searching for the VPN connection doesn't find anything either. And trying a different type of VPN - PPTP - yields the same results i.e. nothing at all.

I have discovered that deselecting and reselecting the password "Store/Always Ask/Not Required" dropdown makes the greyed-out password box writable.

Which version of KDE Network Management and NetworkManager are you using?
