I don't understand how to connect for ex. with a KDE or Kubuntu group ... Kubuntu did enter itself «Kubuntu IRC» and I did add «Freenode». I did enter a (very old) pseudo I did have in freenode (but I don't remember the password, and don't where/how require a new one. In Kubuntu IRC I did never have some one).
Nothin happens.
Perhaps can I find somewhere a comprehensive step-by-step tuto?

note: Quassel is not part of KDE

you should probably check out their website and maybe irc channel if you have a 2nd irc app installed
